About

Hey! My name is Taylor and I am a recent Master of Public Health (MPH) graduate from Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. I started this blog as a community for students pursuing higher education and young people looking to live a happier, healthier, and more productive life. If you love medicine, public health, interior design, and productivity tips you’ll fit right in. On the blog, you’ll be able to find posts chronicling my journey from premedical student to practicing physician including all of the tips and resources I used to get through the ups and downs in-between. Want to get started?

My Journey

ACS_0858While in high school, I worked at an optometrist’s office and saw a twelve-year-old little girl leave her routine eye exam with a neurologist’s referral to assess the possibility of a pituitary brain tumor. That was the moment I knew that I could not imagine doing anything but medicine.

The week before my first semester at the University of Central Florida, I changed my major and began taking the science-based pre-requisites I was lacking. After many trials and errors, I settled on a pursuing two Bachelor’s degrees; one in Biomedical Sciences and one in Health Sciences with a minor in Psychology. During my undergraduate coursework, I served in a number of leadership roles on and off campus, including the American Medical Women’s Association and a Behavioral Health research position which helped me discover a love for public health.

After finishing my undergrad degrees, I went on to attend Columbia for an MPH degree in Health Policy & Management with a certificate in Comparative Effectiveness Outcomes Research. During my MPH, I worked on research projects spanning menstrual equity, obstetric outcomes, and the opioid epidemic. The move from Florida to New York City was a big one but I have absolutely loved my time in the big city and am going to miss it terribly!

Now that I have completed my MPH, I am moving to Boston to pursue (yet another) Master’s degree in Bioethics. I am preparing to retake my MCAT and will be applying to medical school during my time in Boston!
